The Disabled Children's Partnership: Top Tips for the Summer Holidays
16 August 2017
The Disabled Children's Partnership recognise what holidays are like for disabled children and young people, and their families.
They want to celebrate everything that's good about the holidays and to know what people are up to. You can share your holiday photos using the hashtag #SecretLifeOfUs.
But they also know that the summer holidays can be tough for some. Their national survey found that 53% of family carers say they don’t take a family holiday as a result of providing care to their disabled child and 80% have had to give up leisure time due to their caring responsibilities. Other problems include reduced support, a change in routine and problems with childcare.
On their website, they have listed some of their top tips for the summer holidays and for coping with problems that may occur. They also have links to holiday services you may be interested in.
